Through my words that you're reading right now, I'll try my best to offer comfort and calm. You may be very stressed out right now. Maybe you're feeling quite alone too. It's hard to sleep with your mind racing and your body exhausted.
Sleep is about letting go, relaxing, trusting that you'll be safe when you're really vulnerable.
When you're asleep you're at your most vulnerable and its hard to have quick reflexes for fight or flight when you're asleep. So you're alert, on guard, looking out for yourself. If you're awake, you can react quickly and keep yourself safe.
So let's keep it simple. Here's your sleep prescription for tonight.
1. Look at Photos of Cute, Sleepy Animals.
Even if you're unable to fall asleep after looking at these photos, at least you'll get in a dose of cuteness. I hope seeing these adorable creatures pause and take a nap in the middle of the day in the safety of their homes or the safety of their trees makes you smile and relax a bit.
2. That's All for tonight. Tons of Cute Sleeping Animals.
I'm guessing if you can't sleep you have enough stress and things to take care of. I don't want to add another item to your To Do List, like exercise a couple hours before bed, drink Chamomile tea, listen to YouTube videos with subliminal messages about falling asleep, stop looking at your phone and all screen at least one hour before bedtime, meditate for 10 minutes before getting into bed, and do nothing in your bed but sleep from now on.
